Remnant of God, in this season, it is vital that we choose peace. I believe that in this hour, there's a lot of swirl and attack from the enemy with the purpose of confusion, distraction, and division. There is healthy confrontation within the church, but then there is accusation, condemnation, shame, gossip, dissension, and discord, which is not of God. I want to be very clear.
There are those who are in rebellion and unrepentant, who are actually not walking with the Lord at all and continually, willfully disobeying him. That kind of unrepentant, willful, and continual rebellion does need to be confronted in the church and severed from the body. But there's an attack on the body of true believers that live out repentance, that are actively seeking the Lord, actively surrendered to him, and actively following God, in order to divide us against one another and distract us from the real enemy. Why is that the attack right now?
Because the enemy knows a divided house cannot stand and so he is trying to divide true believers against one another. Because we need a unified church in this hour to rise up unified against the horrendous evil that has been and is being exposed, especially like that of the evil against our children. Because we need to focus our fight on the real enemy and stand up for the vulnerable. The enemy is also attacking the body's internal and personal peace for the same reasons.
I want to share practically in the word of God what it means to choose peace. Colossians 3:15 in the amp translation says, "Let the peace of Christ, the inner calm of the one who walks daily with him, be the controlling factor in our hearts, deciding and settling questions that arise. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body of believers and be thankful to God always." In the NKJV version, it says, "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body and be thankful." In the original language in Greek here, it translates to let peace be the umpire of your minds. What does an umpire do?
An umpire has authority to and is responsible for enforcing the rules, in fair ensuring fair play, and making binding judgments on plays. You have to use your authority and step into your responsibility of enforcing the truth and making godly judgments on what thoughts and feelings are allowed in your mind and heart. You have to ensure that all the thoughts and feelings you allow inside of you align with the peace of God. And peace here in the original language can mean quietness and rest, security, safety, and prosperity, peace between individuals, harmony, and concord.
It also means a tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ and so fearing nothing from God and content with its earthly lot of whatsoever sort that is. Also, it's really important to guard your gates and eliminate the battle where you can. Be careful, be prudent, and yielded to God's direction with things like social media, the news, which is often used as a tool to pit us against one another, and to instill fear and discord. Remember, it is vital in this time to keep the real enemy the real enemy and choose peace with true believers and within yourself.
