We are in a time of vital transition. There is a ton of movement happening in the spirit right now and it is essential that we are listening to the voice of God, know how to hear the voice of God and also using true godly wisdom to make decisions right now. This is wrapping up the miniseries of breaking down what wisdom truly is according to the Bible. James 3:17 and 18 says, "But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." The word wisdom itself here in the original language means to be full of intelligence, supreme intelligence and the knowledge and practice of the requisites for godly and upright living. Pure here means innocent chase, modest, clean, pure from every fault and immaculate. Peaceable here means to be pacific and loving peace. Gentle here means to be mild, patient, impartial and without favoritism or discrimination.
Willing to yield here means easily obeying, compliant and easy to be intreated. Mercy here means kindness or goodwill. To exercise the virtue of mercy, to show oneself merciful. To show and afford mercy to another.
And kindness or goodwill toward the miserable and afflicted join with a desire to relieve them. Good fruits here means good deeds of a Christian. deeds required for the attainment of salvation in the kingdom of God to exhibit deeds agreeing with a heart change and deeds arising from righteousness. I love it that it says here all these good fruits it says that wisdom is are deeds required for the attainment of salvation in the kingdom of God. That's so good. and deeds agreeing with a change of your heart.
Um it says he takes out our stony heart and gives us a heart of flesh. Right? So essentially the Bible here gives us an explicit list of what true godly wisdom is. It says true wisdom is pure, innocent, chase, modest, clean, pure from every fault and immaculate.
True wisdom is to be peaceable and pacific. For you to be truly wise, you have to love peace, actively make peace with others, and actively work towards peace with others. True wisdom is to be gentle, mild, patient, and impartial. When you don't show favoritism even of yourself, trying to push yourself forward or push what you want forward or your way forward um or when you don't show discrimination as well.
That's when you are truly wise. True wisdom is being willing to yield. You are truly wise when you easily obey, are easy to comply, and easily intreated by others. True wisdom is to be full of mercy, kindness, and good will.
Notice it doesn't say nice here. It's truly kind, meaning preferring the other. You are truly wise when you show that you are merciful. when you actively exercise the virtue of mercy and when you show and afford mercy to another. True wisdom is to be full of good fruits and deeds.
You are truly wise when you exhibit good deeds agreeing with a heart change, a soft heart and arising from righteousness. Then in this excerpt of scripture, it says that true wisdom displays all of these things without partiality, which means without ambiguity or uncertainty, and without hypocrisy, which means without being disguised, insincere, pretend or feigned. This description of wisdom in the Bible is listing out the fruit of righteousness. And verse 18 here says, "The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." It makes the correlation very clear here.
To be righteous and wise is to be a peace maker with another. To make peace with another is to be righteous and wise.
